There are clear moments where technology starts to boom in the industry. The move to DVDs, 3D, high-definition viewing and various other technology have all been tremendously quick. People adopt trends at exceptionally fast speeds and as such, electronics providers need to keep up with the current trend. Panasonic and Samsung have both released their high-end 3D Blu-Ray players, though they're remarkably similar in capabilities. Comparing high end 3D Blu-Ray players from Samsung and Panasonic will point out these similarities, as well as a couple of differences.
Samsung
As with both players, the Samsung 6900 offers full 3D technology, which means you can view any media, such as a film, that offers 3D viewing and not be disappointed. 3D provides a much more immersive picture as it project different layers of the media to the front and back, giving the illusion of depth. This allows us to perceive characters and other objects coming much closer to us, when they're actually no closer than normal. This is the main selling point of 3D technology.
The 6900 features a somewhat strange system to advertise, a fast boot and load system. This decreases the amount of time it takes to get to watching your media by speeding up the time it takes the player to load and decreasing how long it takes for the disc tray to open and close. For some, this might be a useless aspect, but for others, this is perhaps a blessing.
The 6900 provides connection to the Internet so that you can view online materials through your television. Sources such as the BBC iPlayer, LOVEFiLM and YouTube are all provided as well as others. This free and premium material provides a lot of entertainment and brings the Internet to your living room, where you can enjoy it with your friends and family on a comfortable sofa.
Panasonic
As with the 6900, the BDT300 also supports full 3D in high definition. This allows you to view the 3D films as they were intended and with Panasonic's integrated image processors, the quality of said media is improved so that the colors are faithfully reproduced and the image quality kept sharp. These enhancements also carry over to films that are 1080i, not 1080p, as they are enhanced for greater details.
The BDT300 has two HDMI outputs to mix and match sound systems. It's possible to use newer sound systems with legacy systems, which are incompatible with 3D technology. Furthermore, it allows users to continue using old equipment without forcing them to upgrade.
Yet another shared aspect between the two is upsampling. Both the BDT300 and the 6900 can upsample a standard definition piece of media to a high definition 1080p to provide high-quality viewing. These standard definition medias can be from a removable storage device or from the Internet or anywhere else. - 40729
